Preparing Your Pictures for Scanning

Save time and money by having your images ready to be scanned by our master photography team.

Photographs

Photographs should be organized by your preferred category (whether it is by timeline, family, projects, subjects, location, etc) and should be organized with photos of the same size.

We recommend removing the photos from any albums and frames.

Sort through your photos to remove duplicates, misfires, and otherwise unwanted photos, but don’t use this task to procrastinate from getting you images scanned.

Organize the photos so they are all facing the same direction upright in photo boxes. They can be sorted and held together with large rubber bands, or sorted with index cards.

Make note of any special photos that need extra attention - whether they are more fragile or need color correction, retouching, or restoration.

Slides

Organizing your slides on a carousel will make the scanning process much faster as you can align your images and categorize them so they are in order to your preference. Slide carousels are available to be rented from us if needed. Use a slide viewer to discard any slides you don’t want.

Make note of any special photos that need extra attention - whether they are more fragile or need color correction, retouching, or restoration.

Negatives

Negatives…

Make note of any negatives that are in poor condition - whether they are more fragile or need repair.

Film, video, and Audio

Make note of any reels or cassettes that need extra attention - whether they are more fragile or need repair.
